My habit of thinking big, comes from knowing that anything is possible.
You can do anything, if you put your mind into it.
So here I am; having a big dream for Aruba.
I would like to have a large white Aruba sign along the side of the Hooiberg, so that when cruise ships and airplanes come in, they can see the big hill in the distance with it's large sign.
The Hooiberg is choosen because of it's central location in the middle of the island, and because of it's hight (a total of approx. 165 meters), which will be a sufficient hight for the Aruba sign to be build there.
Each of the 5 letters will be between 7 and 10 meters high. I am in need of a sponsor and architect to make my dream reality.
With the construction and upkeep of the sign comes a creation of jobs for constructors, architect, lanscapers and so on. A museum/ giftshop at the Hooiberg would likely to be opened at the Hooiberg location, to inform the public about the progress of the construction and with historical pictures how the Hooiberg once looked.
Of course you all know the Hollywood signs, now being monitored by a full time crew, and also by webcam, with followers from all over the world visiting the website to read about the history of the sign, to view the weather in Hollywood with a live view connection, souvenirs are manufactured, tourbusses come and go.
Jobs were created to achieve all that and many jobs are still provided because of that sign.
Now for Aruba this is my dream, and my goal to make it work. Aruba needs a new boost, a new tourist attraction.
Jobs will be created for tour guides to have a new place to visit with tourists, local workmen will build and maintain the Aruba sign, local staff on site running the musuem/ information center/ gift shop, a website will have to be build to keep everyone up=to-date, and so on.
Will the government or a private investor also believe in my idea, and fund this project? Time will tell....at least I am the one person knowing that this will be a great boost for the island. Do you think so too?
